A good portion of 2020 had many of us stuck at home and missing out on cafe-hopping excursions and food shots that didn’t include plastic containers. One thing we miss during this pandemic (besides travelling, of course) is the freedom to cafe-hop and people-watch over a good cup of coffee without feeling paranoid. Despite how different things have been in the past two years, lovely new cafes and restaurants have opened their doors across the city, waiting to be explored. If you’re in need of a weekend brunch or good coffee to keep you sane, head to one of these cafes around Miri Sarawak! Cafes are sprouting all over Miri area and there’s just too many to keep count of.

Traveling from cafe to cafe, Su Girl Please is waiting as that next cup of tea being prepared, ready to delve into an analysis of what is on offer. With minimalistic furniture and a serene ambiance, the cafe has a small but lovely menu for it’s delicious and scrumptious cakes worth dying for. Their cakes are different daily so you will not expect what to order from them each different day! Taking a step away from the typical black, white, and grey aesthetic, make sure you also whip out your phone to take memorable shots here because this cafe is decked out in splashes of bright colors, monochrome cushions, and potted plants that make it an IG-worthy spot. They also have a pretty extensive beverage list that includes strawberry latte, Belgium dark chocolate latte, rose latte, matcha, among others.

Do note though that the cafe is small, so make sure you plan your visit during off-peak hours if you’re looking to dine in and enjoy some downtime by the café.

Kopi at Five

Kopi at Five is a humble home-based cafe tucked away in a quiet neighborhood in Pujut 5. Kinda like visiting an old grandma’s home. While it may not be as glamorous as other cafes in town, we absolutely love how homey and welcoming this home cafe is! Decked with warm wooden furniture and white minimalistic decor, the cafe exudes a calming vibe great for quiet mornings or lazy afternoons. Step into this restored heritage building and be greeted by a cosy space filled with custom-designed rattan furniture, brick walls, bare beams, and tons of zen, photogenic corners. The cozy cafe is drenched in ample natural sunlight and great for enjoying a nice cup of specialty coffee in a comfortable space. Other items on the menu include pasta, bread, or rice.

Fans of coffee, ice-blended, or delicious cakes, you must add Kopi at five to your cafe-hopping checklist. Sit back and relax in its Scandinavian-style interior with your choice of beverage.
