Let’s say that you’re a guest staying in The Wharf, or just anywhere in Miri, who’s just booked a unit via the online platform, Airbnb, and you’re wondering how you can spend a whole-worthwhile-day while exploring the urban side of Miri. Well, here’s a guide for your whole day! Let’s start your one-day trip, shall we?

Start Your Day With A Breathe of Fresh Air At The City Fan Recreation Park

Just like how Miri took its time to build the Miri City Fan in the 1990s, you should also take your time enjoying the breathtaking view of the Miri City Fan. This unique fan-shaped civic park is located at strategic points across Merpati and Kipas Roads. Thus, in 2001, it was awarded first for Malaysian Landscape Day in the Urban Park category.

The park’s main features are the civic promenade, the themed gardens, and the library cum cultural centre. From the flow of the pathways to the architectural features of the arches, domes, gateways, and gazebos, each of these carries its own purpose and is designed to incorporate the diversity of Miri.

Strolling through the park, you can definitely see the influence of the multicultural essence of Miri on the designs. It’s genuinely a magnificent recreation park with a well-deserved award.

Get A Taste of Sarawak Laksa at 63 Cafe For Breakfast

What comes next after a good jog/exercise? That’s right – food!

If it’s your first time coming to Sarawak (welcome!), a must-try Sarawakian cuisine that you absolutely shouldn’t miss is our Sarawak Laksa. If you’re wondering, what makes a Sarawak Laksa different from the other laksa in Malaysia, it’s the soup.

Sarawak Laksa incorporates the flavourful combination of coconut milk and tamarind paste blend along with other local spices while breaking the rules of a typical Laksa soup. The typical laksa usually highlights the fish in the soup, while Sarawak Laksa includes shredded chicken and fried egg strips and shrimps in its cooking.

However, 63 Cafe brings its laksa recipe to Miri all the way from Kuching. Their laksa consists of a rich broth that is made of prawn shells and spice paste which compliments the choice of rice vermicelli or noodle. If you ever forget the name of this cafe, just remember that “six three” in Hokkien (liok sam) sounds similar to “laksa”. Other than laksa, they also serve kolo mee.

Just ask anyone that isn’t from Miri: which place in Miri they’d like to visit the most? Chances are, they’ll mention Coco Cabana. Placed just 3.8km from The Wharf, it only takes 8 min to drive to Coco Cabana in Miri from the Airbnb place.

FYI, Coco Cabana slowly garnered its name throughout the years from the various events held such as Borneo Jazz Festival and The Miri Country Music Festival as well as supporting local businesses on non-event days in its main event hall.

With the breathtaking sunset view and the lively atmosphere, it’s no surprise that Coco Cabana is one of the most mentioned tourist spots in Miri. Get your camera ready because every corner of the place is Instagrammable! The place also looks extra magical since it’s always filled with bubbles and especially during the golden hours.

Not only you can enjoy the view while enjoying the food from the rows of food stalls, but also you can rent a bicycle if you’re feeling a little adventurous that day!

Healthy Dinner At Avocbar

What does Avocbar sound similar to? That’s right – it’s avocado! Just like how avocado is a fellow member of the healthy fibre category, Avocbar chooses to highlight avocado to promote eating healthy.

The list of healthy Avocbar menus varies from a range of foods such as pokebowls, different sorts of fried rice and salads to beverages like smoothies. If you don’t know which one to choose from the menu, we recommend the Signature Avocado Fried Rice as a start!

Other than the healthy menu, Avocbar is also highly praised for its fresh ingredients, good quality control, friendly staff, etc. It’s also a Muslim-friendly restaurant. Definitely a green flag type of restaurant, don’t you think?
